About Us

DHS Management operates apartment communities with exceptional attention to detail, value and service for its residents and investors.

Leveraging more than 60 years of combined real estate experience, Howard Jacobson, David Jacobson, and Stephen Swartz have developed, built and managed numerous residential and commercial properties throughout the United States.

Howard and David Jacobson were born and raised in metropolitan Detroit and both graduated from the University of Michigan. Their exposure to the real estate industry began with summer jobs at some of the family's 15,000 apartment homes in communities around the country. Following college, Howard earned his MBA at Carnegie Mellon University and worked at Pinnacle Management, the third largest apartment management company in the U.S., where he specialized in site selection and asset management. During this same period. David was employed at Heitman Financial and GE Capital gaining invaluable expertise in financial structuring and market analysis.

After graduating from Michigan State University, Stephen Swartz gained a Master's degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He went on to build and then sell companies in the publishing, broadcasting and financing industries before entering real estate development and management in 1996. In addition to his DHS Management apartment community activities, Stephen now also operates shopping centers with his company, The JAR Group, and has developed condominium communities.

DHS Management now operates communities with more than 4,500 apartments across Southeast Michigan,as well as communities in other growing markets such as the Carolinas and Chicago. In all of its activities DHS Management provides its residents with outstanding rental values, delivering facilities and service beyond those normally expected. DHS Management has exceptional experience in renovating properties and bringing them to outstanding performance for both residents and investors. We continue to seek opportunities for both management and acquisition, in Michigan and other market areas.
