This community center is a 95,000 square foot cultural and recreational jewel in the heart of Canton Township in the beautiful 105-acre Heritage Park. The complex includes a wide array of outstanding cultural and recreational amenities including a banquet & conference center, aquatic center, fitness center, gymnasium, track and meeting rooms.

Canton prides itself on providing an excellent system of 6 township parks which offer a variety of facilities and activities for residents, plus a place for families to gather for picnics and other outdoor activities. Park pavilions and the gazebo in Heritage Park are available for rental by community groups and individuals. In addition, Huron-Clinton Metroparks William P. Holliday Nature Preserve cuts into the northeast corner of Canton at Koppernick Road, east of the C&O railtracks. 500 acres total, 57 acres in Canton. The River Rouge Parkway is also along the lower Rouge River from Canton Center to Hannan Road. 267 acres, this is a natural, undeveloped park area.

Golf Courses

In addition to many local area private clubs, Canton Township maintains two public courses
Pheasant Run Golf Club is a scenic and challenging golf course designed by world renowned architect Arthur Hills. The 27-hole layout covers more than 300 acres of rolling terrain, and traverses over 10.5 miles from start to finish. The championship course features pencross bent grass fairways and tees along with smooth, fast, and true greens. The golf course is inviting to the beginner and challenging to the scratch golfer, as numerous tee boxes allow the course to play 5,046 yards from the forward tees all the way up to 7,125 yards from the "tips." Pheasant Run Golf Club has the distinction of being awarded three and one half stars from Golf Digest Magazine - Places to Play. Pheasant Run also include a practice range, pro shop and grill.

Fellows Creek Golf Club

Located on Lotz Road just north of Michigan Ave., boasts 27 holes over three unique nine-hole courses. Each nine hole layout is over 3,200 yards in length. Discounts are offered to Canton residents. Fellows Creek offers a fully stocked pro shop for all your golf equipment needs, golf lessons from and a complete restaurant/banquet facility for your outing and special occasion needs. The banquet room can accommodate up to 275 people. Windowed with a beautiful view of the golf course, they can service a wide variety of events such as golf outings, showers, retirement parties and business meetings.

Canton Township is fast becoming the retail capital of Wayne County. In addition to metropolitan Detroit's only IKEA home furnishings store on Ford Road near Haggerty Road, Canton boasts the presence of nearly all of the country's major retailers including Target, Home Depot, Sams Club, Lowes, Best Buy, and Kroger. Canton also is the showcase for wide variety of local specialty retailers. And, Canton's central location and quick expressway access puts you minutes from any shopping venue in either Metro Detroit or Ann Arbor.

Our area restaurants, including those found in nearby Plymouth and Northville, can satisy any palate, from casual to gourmet and from burgers to any international cuisine you can think of. For even more variety, 25 minutes or less drives you to exciting Ann Arbor nightlife or the hot spots of downtown Detroit.

All of our communities are within the highly acclaimed Plymouth-Canton Community School District, which includes three high schools, five middle schools, and 15 elementary schools. The Plymouth-Canton district boasts the only educational park in Michigan. Known as the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP), it is a 305-acre site which serves as the location of three four-year comprehensive high schools, Canton, Plymouth, and Salem.. The buildings, completed in 2002, house over 220 teachers, counselors, and learning specialists, with a student population of about 5,664. Courses available to students, who participate interchangeably at the three schools, range from auto mechanics through foreign languages to calculus and cover all the areas in between. Athletic facilities at the Park include swimming pools, gymnasiums, and an 8,000-seat athletic stadium used jointly by all three schools. Every school in the District has a media center staffed by a certified librarian and is served by specialists in art, music, physical education and learning problems. The Canton Public Library serves more than 76,000 residents of Canton Township, a community in western Wayne County, Michigan. We are a member of The Library Network (TLN) and Metro Net. The Library is located at 1200 S. Canton Center Road, near to the township office facilities.
