As you walk in the main lobby of the this barrier free facility, you will observe a comforting open environment which includes natural light provided by three skylights, commercial free music, cable TV, free high speed wireless internet throughout the building and comforting tables and benches to encourage social interaction among visitors. The Community Center is open seven days per week to meet the recreational, leisure and social needs of all residents from children to seniors.

It is the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department to improve, enhance and extend the quality of life opportunities to Troy residents and community businesses. The Department promotes a healthy lifestyle for all age groups, regardless of physical abilities, and enriches our historic, cultural and natural resources through community interpretive programs. The Troy Parks and Recreation Department was recently named Michigan's #1 Sportstown by Sports Illustrated as a result of its commitment to organized sports.

Over 790 acres of park land are owned and maintained including 14 parks ranging in size from the 171 acre Flynn Park, to the 3 acre Redwood Park and seven special use facilities operated by the City. These facilities are the Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center, Farm, Community Center, Family Aquatic Center, Tennis Bubble, and Sylvan Glen Golf Course.

About The Nature Center

The Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center is a 100 acre nature sanctuary dedicated to educating about the natural world. A wide range of programs, including an extensive list of school programs, provides opportunities for adults and children alike to enjoy and learn about the out-of-doors. Our 100 acres contains most of the "chapters" to a textbook about nature and ecology of Southeastern Michigan and is a beautiful place to recreate a more peaceful connection with the natural world.
